Ellie Littlechild
Ellie is our Head of Residential Training at K9 Generation in Somerset, bringing almost a decade of hands on experience to train any dog behaviour and breed.
Meet Ellie
Growing up with five Dobermans, I was always surrounded by dogs. Nine years ago, I adopted a very nervous puppy, which led me to seek formal training to help him. This experience ignited my passion for dog training, and I was fortunate to learn from two highly skilled mentors who nurtured my enthusiasm. With their guidance, I gained hands-on experience running daycare, boarding, training puppies and adults, and conducting various workshops.
I’ve trained and competed in numerous dog sports, including Canicross, KC Obedience, Agility, Search and Rescue, and Scentwork. I also raised and trained police dog puppies, competed in IGP dog sport with my German Shepherd, and supported home exercise programs at a dog physiotherapy and rehab clinic. One of my proudest moments was when my IGP dog successfully tracked and located an elderly dog who had been missing for three days, rescuing him from an underground rabbit hole.
Having owned a variety of breeds, including Doberman, Terrier, GSD, Rottweiler, a Husky mix, and having trained many more, I have extensive hands-on experience with many different dogs. My favourite aspect of training is revealing the incredible potential within each dog and fostering a deep connection through understanding their communication. Whether for fun, problem-solving, or achieving specific goals, I love enhancing the bond between dogs and their owners through training.
Training Technique
I believe in using multiple methodologies to address individual needs effectively, understanding the dog’s communication language, rather than sticking to a single approach that may not suit every case. I tailor my approach to fit both the dog and the owner, recognising that each situation is unique. My goal is to achieve the best possible results by being adaptable, accountable, and sustainable.

More About Ellie Littlechild
Doberman, German Shepherd, Terrier, Rottweiler, GSD cross Husky.
My heart is with high-drive working breeds such as Shepherd, Belgian Malinois, Labrador, Rottweiler Doberman, but I have a soft spot for a naughty Terrier.
Seeing people’s relationships with their dogs change and showing people that there is so much more to a dog than throwing a ball or a walk around the block.
Labrador, Cocker Spaniel, Cockapoo, Doodles (Labradoodle, Golden Doodle etc), Poodle, Rottweiler, Terrier, Bulldog, Beagle, Dachshund
I taught my Husky to ‘cock his leg’ on command, which can be quite amusing in certain situations. However, for a more practical trick, I love teaching a ‘hand touch.’ It’s versatile and can be used for a variety of purposes.
