Frequently Asked Questions

Residential dog training, also known as board and train or kennel training, is a type of dog training programme where the dog stays at a trainer’s facility for a certain period, usually ranging from a few days to several weeks. During this time, the dog undergoes intensive training sessions tailored to address specific behavioural issues or to teach obedience and other desired behaviours.

Residential dog training can be very effective, but its success depends on several factors, including the quality of the training program, the consistency of follow-up training at home, and the specific needs and temperament of the dog.

Yes, we recommend sending puppies to residential dog training programmes. These can be beneficial for puppies, providing them with a strong foundation in obedience, socialisation, and good behaviour.

At K9 Generation we offer 2 options of residential dog training prices per week:

  1. £1,200 per week when your dog stays with us and sleeps in our comfortable kennel bedrooms.
  2. £1,500 per week when your dog stays with us and sleeps in the trainer’s home.

You can visit your dog while they are with us for boarding and training if we conclude that it is beneficial for the dog’s training.

We will be sending video updates of the training around 2-3 times per week.

One size does not fit all, every dog is unique, and training methods will be tailored to the individual dog’s personality, breed, and behaviour. Building a clear and positive picture for the dog is a fundamental aspect of our training.

To ensure the success of your dog’s training and maintain the progress made during residential training, we will do a handover session and help you on your journey following the residential period.

For dog boarding, the trainers focus on specific tasks tailored to your dog’s needs, working on behavior changes and training. In contrast, traditional kennels primarily provide basic care and accommodation, focusing on looking after your dog without any specific training objectives.

Residential boarding is an intensive, bootcamp-style program conducted over an extended period, designed to address specific behaviours and develop better character in your dog. In contrast, our doggy day care training service is for shorter periods, but shares the same goal of tailoring the training to meet your dog’s specific needs.
